Born to Create and Build.

As soon as Michael Kingery was old enough to hold a pencil, he was drawing on an industrial drafting board. It was the same one his grandfather used while working at Logansport Machine Company. It was here under the glow of a fluorescent desk lamp attached and a wooden drawer chock full of writing utensils that he spent countless hours developing his imagination and design skills. Sketching puppies in pencil soon evolved to detailed portraits of animals using charcoals, pastels and then later in acrylic and watercolor paints.

He was able to connect his design skills with building as a young adult. When he wasn’t at football practice, he often spent high school summers working in a woodworking shop his father ran. His father eventually left the woodworking business and returned to building homes. In 1994 he joined his father’s custom home building company and worked for a few years learning the craft under a strong German discipline which taught no compromise to quality.

In 1997, Michael moved to Indiana and began building his family and a custom home building business. As with most people who live by purpose, the world seems to make a way for those who know where they are going, and Michael was no exception. Remodeling projects and routine new construction projects soon gave way to 11,000 square foot fully custom homes and commercial projects.

Today, Michael remains the primary customer contact on all projects as President of MRK Design Inc. The team at MRK collaborates with well known architects, interior designers and subcontractors in north central Indiana to deliver dreams for residential clients and exceptional results for commercial clients.

Michael currently resides in north central Indiana with his wife Delee and four children. He enjoys hunting fishing, painting and woodworking when he is not at work delivering his clients’ dreams.
